San Antonio, June 28, 2013…A report published by Becker’s Hospital Review shows Methodist Hospital among the top five largest hospitals in the nation and the largest in the state of Texas. With more than 1,500 licensed beds, Methodist Hospital shares a provider number with Methodist Children’s Hospital, Methodist Heart Hospital, Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital, Metropolitan Methodist Hospital, Northeast Methodist Hospital and Methodist Texsan Hospital.

The list was devised with Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) cost report data analyzed by American Hospital Directory. The largest hospitals in America and the number of licensed beds they maintain include:

1. New York-Presbyterian Hospital (New York City) — 2,292
2. Florida Hospital Orlando — 2,141
3. Jackson Memorial Hospital (Miami) — 1,724
4. University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian — 1,590
5. Methodist Hospital (San Antonio) — 1,536
