Labor of Love Unveiled Just in Time for Mother’s Day

METHODIST HOSPITAL HOSTS OPEN HOUSE FOR NEWLY RENOVATED LABOR AND DELIVERY UNIT FRIDAY, MAY 6

Tasteful Photos of Expectant Mothers and Adorable Babies Taken by Local Photographers Create a Gallery-Like Atmosphere

WHAT:
Methodist Hospital will host an open house for its newly renovated labor and delivery unit on May 6. The hospital delivers more than 5,000 babies each year. The renovation includes new flooring, wall coverings, furnishings, cabinetry and technology. Decorating the unit are tasteful photos of pregnant women and babies taken by local photographers.

“Being pregnant is a special time in a woman’s life,” said Barbara Markel, RN, Director of Labor and Delivery, Methodist Hospital. “We decided to use photos to show how families can capture this special moment and make it a lasting memory.” Actress Demi Moore started the pregnancy photo trend in 1991 when she posed for the cover of Vanity Fair Magazine. More than 250 photos were submitted for consideration. The women’s services staff at Methodist Hospital and obstetricians who deliver babies in the unit voted for their favorites. Twenty-seven photos were chosen and then matted, framed and recently installed in the unit.

WHEN:
Friday, May 6 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Methodist Hospital, first floor, enter through Women’s Services in the Central Tower Lobby, 7700 Floyd Curl Drive
